On Friday 18th April, Creech Men visited Taunton Fire Station. The
evening began with a Road Traffic Accident training exercise, when one of
our group, David Cull, was asked to be an injured driver who needed to be
cut out of a vehicle. Firefighter Barry Tucker talked us through what was
happening as the glass was all shattered, the medics stabilised the patient,
doors were removed before the roof finally cut off.
After this demonstration, we were shown round the station's main
appliances by Crew Manager Ainsley Bird, and shown all that they carry, from
a 100ft ladder, full chemical protective suits, all manner of tools right
through to a simple teddy bear that is used to calm down anxious children!

Breakfast with
Tough Talk
Saturday 10th November
2007
.JPG)
30 men gathered at CSMBC to enjoy a hearty breakfast of the 'fat bloke'
type, after which Ian, who had driven from Essex on the morning, shared some
of his life story. From growing up in a single parent home in the heart of
the east end of London to working on the doors of clubs and pubs, Ian fought
his way through life the hard way. He lifted weights for his country but
also took steroids to enhance his abilities, even injecting himself with
steroids meant for horses. Life on the doors meant carrying weapons at all
times, regularly using them to stay alive yourself. With a contract on his
life and with friends being killed all around him, Ian eventually found his
peace with God through Jesus Christ, when after a friend of his had attended
a church and been physically healed from some serious injuries, Ian took
stock of his wretched life and asked God to come and help him sort it out.
